A covering in the spiritual sometimes seen, sometimes unseen. A gifting or office given by the Holy Spirit (the helper) sent by Father God when Jesus returned to sit at the Father's right hand on the throne of Heaven. An addereth (pronounced ad-deh'-reth) is the Hebrew word translated to English as mantle has many rich meanings: glory, splendor, magnificence, cloak, a prophet's garment.
There are strong references to a mantle surrounding Elijah and Elisha are in 1st and 2nd Kings. Including references to a covering for warmth, ahead coverings, spiritual authority, and a passing of a mantle. In John we can find the beginning of understanding that spiritual gifts from Father God are still in operation today.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:12
